Assign ownership for application access before go-live

An installed workstation can still be unusable for its intended role if approved application access is unfinished.

An installed workstation can still be unusable for its intended role if approved application access is unfinished. Access preparation belongs in the implementation schedule, but the authority to grant it remains with the organization’s designated owners.

Identify the required roles

Ask the application owner which user roles are needed for the approved workflow. Record the request process, prerequisites and expected lead time without placing passwords or personal access details in a shared project tracker. Separate technical installation accounts from normal user access. Do not assume that an installer’s ability to open an application establishes readiness for the department.

Include access in the acceptance plan

Have the responsible teams define an authorized check using approved test information. Capture whether required roles are ready and who owns any remaining request. Arrange user preparation in time for the planned handoff. When project access is no longer needed, route its review through the access owner’s process. Keeping temporary implementation access out of routine operations is a specific closeout task, not something to assume happens automatically.

Practical takeaway

Put access requests, authorized checks and post-project access review on the schedule, with the proper owner beside each step.
